Purpose

Utility is designed to purge files from certain folders, based on conditions, specified in the configuration.

Multiple folders could be parsed for files.

Notification is sent with the detailed number of files purged and any files not purged due to errors.

Notifications are configurable per each folder.

Conditions to purge files could be based on: Size of files; Last modification times; File names with wild characters support.

 

Usage

Install the application and execute it from the command prompt.

Schedule the run time with Scheduler if required.

 

Installation

Copy SmartPurge.exe and /config/config.xml to the desired installation path;

Change configuration using the base configuration as example;

Use comments within the config.xml file for configuration options explanation.

Test utility by executing it from command prompt.

Schedule with Task Scheduler to run regularly.

 

Tip

After changing configuration file, open it with Internet Explorer and confirm that there are no syntax errors.

If there is an error in the config.xml file, you will receive xml parsing error when executing the SmartPurge.
